When you see the Giant Wheel spring up along Highway 101 it can only mean one thing – it’s time for the Marin County Fair.
Marin is not your average county, so fittingly, this is not your average county fair. Yes, there are the traditional fair classics we all know and love – pig races, petting zoo, carnival rides, ring-toss games, and baking competitions. However, only here will you also find a solar powered carousel, Storm Troopers escorting R2D2, Shangri-La Chinese acrobats and a kinetic structure made out of over 100,000 toothpicks.
The Fair outdoes itself each year, but our favorite attraction is still the Giant Wheel. The pace is fairly slow and it takes you nearly 100 ft. up for an aerial view of the entire Fair, Civic Center lagoon and San Rafael Hills – making for one Marin tradition that can’t be missed.
The fair runs annually over the Fourth of July holiday with fireworks nightly.
With so much to do at the Fair – and so many new attractions added each year – what are you most excited for this Fourth of July?
