I’m pleased to have opened the “waterfront dream” conversation with my blog about Marin waterfront options, i.e. Stinson Beach, Shelter Pointe, etc. Secretly, many of us hold the vision of a carefree, barefoot lifestyle close to our hearts for “someday.” After stock market positions have been battered and the equity in our homes has eroded, is it still possible to have the dream?

A warm, sunny waterfront community that I consider a sleeper is Bel Marin Keys. A unique community in southern Novato just 1.5 miles from 101, there are approx 650 households, 90% of which are on the water with boats, a dock and gorgeous water views. Home prices are affordable, averaging in the $700-800,000, which is truly a bargain. There are always a handful of homes available to be matched with a following of home buyers who have targeted this community. Not much has changed since I lived there 20 some years ago… Holiday caroling is still done home-to-home from boats to back yards. You can still swim, fish or sail to Hawaii from your own boat dock and the warm weather, palm trees and water views are still awe-inspiring.

A small group of townhomes makes this lifestyle affordable to so many. Think of the possibilities… retirement, second home, your full-time residence or even vacation rental. One of the new listings I’m offering this week is a townhome and it is listed at just $298,000! The townhomes don’t come on the market too often. Ironically, there are two “in escrow” right now, priced in the $300’s. At 95 Caribe Isle you’ll get mountain and water views, a community pool, a boat dock and even a garage. We’ll begin showing next week. Claim your barefoot lifestyle now.
